The Conference of Labour Ministers of the Community of Sahel-Saharan states (Cen-Sad) held from 27-28 November, 2023 in Tripoli, Libya

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, declared open the first Conference of Labor Ministers of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, on Monday 27th November 2023. The conference witnessed the participation of labor ministers from all the states of the Community, ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of CEN-SAD member states as well as ambassadors of European Union countries related to the immigration file and the Executive Secretary of CEN-SAD, Ado Al-Hajji Abu. The theme of the Conference is “A Safe Mediterranean and a Stable South.”

The Conference started with a speech by the Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Chairman of the Conference, Ali Al-Abed, who hailed the government’s support for holding this important African meeting.

Meanwhile, Dbeibah welcomed the distinguished participation of all the labor ministers of the Community, which "confirms Libya’s recovery and its return to its African and regional role," stressing the necessity of cooperation and solidarity to return the Community to its expected role and increase economic and security cooperation of the states, reaffirming Libya’s support for the efforts to return the Community to work from its permanent headquarters in Tripoli.

Among the most prominent people who attended the conference were the Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, Ado Al-Hajji Abu, delegations of labour ministries from Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Chad, Gambia, Mauritania, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast, along with ambassadors from Chad, Djibouti, Niger, Comoros, Eritrea, Sudan, Egypt, Mali, and Senegal. Nigeria was represented by the Chargé D’Affaires En Titre, Amb. Kabiru Musa. Several ambassadors accredited to Libya from friendly countries namely Turkey, France, Italy, Malta, Qatar, and Spain also attended the meeting.
